I have fount that putting instant oats straight into my protein shake gives me bloat. I had worked through an elimination phase and it is definitely the oats.

I ran a search on 'Oats bloat' and found that oats should normally be soaked overnight. It mentioned adding 'vinegar' to the soak too! WTF! Must taste disgusting, but porridge was traditionally soaked and it used to be on the packet.

The product recommendation has you adding 100g of oats straight to a shaker with water 2-3 times day, but it seems something is missing.

Has anybody else come up against this and found a solution or alternative? Does the volume make a difference?

Oats naturally bloat when wet...thats how we make porrige up here ... Not a lot you can do about it really. It's also partially why you feel "full" after oats.

I soup it up these days. A good Lentil soup wil give you a ton of carbs and protein and still taste good.

hahahahaha - I make huge batches of lentil soup and that is what I have for lunch today.
I used to be fine with adding oats straight to the shake and have always enjoyed a bowl of porridge, but now it is more than feeling full. I could blow the duvet across the room and it gives the appearance of a beer gut when I barely drink at all.

I will try soaking a batch overnight, without vinegar, and see how it goes. When you soak porridge oats, do you add anything to the water?
