    Hey all,

I am entirely new to the gym, and hence, totally new to protein/supplements.

I bought Hurricane XS after doing a lot of research and consulting some friends who are knowledgeable with things like this. After reading lots of people complaining about the taste - I dont understand why. Tastes fine to me. The most annoying thing was ordering on Saturday, and then on Monday seeing a buy one, get one half price deal had started - dammit!

Anyway, on to the point(s) of my post:

    1. Dosage - am I right in thinking that the dosage for Hurricane XS is 2 x 70cc scoops in the morning, and the same again in the evening (after gym)? Just seems like a lot of power going into the shaker!

2 Rest days - Is it important to keep up the 2 shakes per day on rest days? I am aiming to build muscle, but am weary of putting on fat (though I play football once a week, and spend time in the gym on cardio once a week).

    Thanks for any help guys,

    Tom

Two large scoops gives something like 38g of protein I think can't remember off the top of my head + I'm on my phone so can't check.

You should take that figure and find out if it fits into your diet. Then you can see if you need both shakes.

Personally I now get enough protein from food that I only have The hurricane xs after my workouts for an additional bit of protein, creatine ect and it means I don't have to cook anything.

For yourself I would think you are eating no where near enough so fat is something you don't need to worry about.

Try signing up to a site like www.myfitnesspal.com you can then track what you eat and work from there. Basic note aim for around 1.5g of protein per lb of body weight as a starter.

In terms of how much kcal you need. Search Google for Harris Benedict formula this will provide you with you base (maintenance) calories that you require to stay exactly as you are. Add about 500 kcals to that number for your bulking calories and - 500 for your cutting calories.

Other than that post up your workout regiem and typical daily diet and I am sure we will be able to help you even further.

(when posting diet don't be shy, if you eat 2 packets of crisps a day no one here cares we can help you more if you tell the truth.)

    All the best,

    Pkant

    Thanks for the response fella.

To give you an idea of my diet:

Breakfast - bowl of cereal + skimmed milk. Smoothie or orange juice. Multivitamin.
Morning Snack - Carrots and/or breakfast bar (go ahead or something similar... whatever is on special offer at supermarket!)
Lunch - 1x sandwich. (chicken, mayo and lettuce / cheese + pickle / salmon and cream cheese), 1x bag of crisps, apple, 2x oranges
    Snack - Bananna.
    <gym>
Dinner - Varies a lot to be honest.... Brown pasta and tuna / pack of stuffed pasta / chicken fajitas / steak, sweet potato and salad / pizza / home-made nandos chicken + salad + chips / etc....

There may be an additional snack of another pack of crisps or breakfast bar in the evening.

I am just worried overdoing the Hurricane XS will lead to putting on fat. An idea of my current exercise pattern:

    Mon - weights (legs)/ cardio
Tues - weights (biceps + chest)
Weds - weights (tricep + back)
    Thurs - football
    Fri - weight (anything goes)
    sat - rest
    sun - rest / cardio

Its not a strict routine, and things do move around a bit!

Any more advice would be much appreciated,

    Cheers all

    Tom
