But which is best? Only one way to find out.....ask the forum

Im looking to switch from protein shakes to either BCAA or EAA but im wondering which is best from anyone who's tried both or anyone who knows which has the best amino profile.

EAA does contain all the amino's found in BCAA as well as quite a few others but in lower quantities than in the BCAA tabs. Just wondering is the content of BCAA sufficient or does the wider amino profile of EAA make up for the lower doses???

Getting EAA and taking a higher dose is not an option to due financial constraints so I need to compare them on a like for like basis

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

should probably add that I'm not looking to cut but am going to be getting enough cals from my diet so dont need a shake, just the extra amino's.....fit's in easier with work etc as well if i can just stick a pill pot in me bag instead of messing around with potions class several times a day an washing the smelly thing out all the time lol

Either or to be honest, I would personally go BCAA for the leucine though...

That said, AAs in the way of BCAA or EAA are COMPLETELY worthless if your dietary protein intake is enough (and good for you for cutting out shakes!). The only two occaisions I would EVER use, or recommend use of, BCAA/EAA would be during lengthy training sessions/bouts of intense activity (like a marathon, say), OR, the most importantly, pre-workout when training FASTED. If neither of these situations apply to you personally, I would actually say drop the notion and forget the potion(s), you'll save yourself some good money!

    lol cheers James
yeah the shakes have to go.....get plenty of milk in my diet anyways so having shakes seems nonsense to me

There are times when my diet cant be perfect due to work etc and also times when I train fasted so I do think I need to look into one of these products, won't need to take them religiously jsut now and again so still be saving money compared to the shakes.

Since you mentioned fasted training, would the cap itself take me out of a fasted state, assuming its gelatin or something similar, anyone know???

It wouldn't through you out of fasted state no, I personally take power BCAA when I use, since 10g (the amount you optimally need) would take ages to pop from caps, plus I can't take tablets or capsules.

Sorry, a bit of a side question - I agree that on its own BCAA powder tastes foul but I add the Cherry Blast flavouring and now enjoy the taste.

Any reason not to add a couple of grams of flavouring? Do other people? Or do you consider this to be adding in too much in the way of sweeteners, etc?

I personally grin and bear it, yes BCAA is quite possibly the worst tasting supp EVER, but I dump a spoonful in my mouth and swill it with a mouthfull of water before swallowing it sharpish - you get a good method going and become used to it in the end - most effiecent and fastest way.
