Couldn't think of where else to put this thread.....

...anyway, what do you guys think? I know heating up the whey may denature it, but would it kill it and make it worthless putting it in tea or coffee.

I have the unflavoured Whey 80 Conc. and mixed with a little water tastes like powdered milk to me, so i thought why not try it in tea or coffee for that little extra hit of protein.

Anyone tried it? What do you think?

    Cheers

sounds terrible to me, but I like my tea & coffee black

I don't know if it would denature the whey. You dont have your tea/coffee boiling do you?

personally I would just go for a set amount in shakes, so your getting about 30g of protein every 2-3 hours from a proper meal/shake

& unless you're cutting I'd be having that shake with full fat milk rather than water, except post workout

You can add it but when in contact with heat it gets really clumped.

5% off on your first order? MP10238 code: Just use it!

Doesn't really apply to me mate, i certainly don't need to bulk up and full fat milk aint necessary. It just occurred to me cos we had no milk at work this am, and thought that maybe the whey in the tea would be an adequate subsitute.

Trust me matey [ha ha ha] sloshing whey protein around in your stomach with a five percent solution of hydrochloric acid [gastric juice] at blood temperature will also de-nature the protein content pretty quickly This is not taking account of the other digestive enzymes, whose sole purpose is to chop up the protein into smaller bits, either.

The only problem with adding whey to tea/coffee etc is the one Tart mentioned. It clumps together. The best way forward is to mix the powder with a "little" bit of water to make a paste - and then add it. Works every time.

Black tea, black coffee? Ugh, phwooo.

Why don't you just mix some whey, coffee, sweetener and chuck it down the neck followed by some water. Should get you same effect although might taste like .

I admit Wotan, your average tea bag cup of splosh is pretty terrible without it, especially that nasty catering stuff you get at work. But, for me, milk ruins good tea or coffee. I keep my own teapot at work so I always get good tea - but I am obsessive
