    Hi,

Im a new user to the forum, very good forum

Im also new to Protein drinks etc, and i started working out down a local gym of mine about a year or two ago. I never really thought too much of protein drinks until i see some online and stumbled across recommendations to MP, so i had a look around and decided to buy Impact Whey Protein (Unflavoured) - CFM - Tubbed which i have been using for past 3-4 days.

It says to take 30g mixed with Milk, water, fruit juice. Which comes to my first few questions. 1) i read that you should not generally mix whey with Milk as it upsets the amino acid or something which stops it working as effective, so you should generally stick with Water?? true/false?

also, 30g?? I've bought a 25g scoop, so im 100% sure (but i have been measuring via about 6 teaspoons??), also how much water?? i was using half a glass, but have recently in a review seen people using asmuch as 300ml which ends up turning it into like your drinking paint.

I found after a few days despite using 6 teaspoons with half glass of water my stomach was giving me problems, stomach pain, pains in my side etc which is when i looked on the reviews to try and see an idea of the ratio really of powder:water. and how much i should be taking this stuff.

I have also read about good combinations of protein before and after a work-out and i wondered if my future one will stand ok:

I'll be having like Oats or something in the morning with 30g Whey and Glutamine, banana about hour before workout, onto workout for around an hour, 30g whey once again and then a meal. topped off with 30g again of whey before bed: I have Whey protein and Glutamine (whats the best way to use these together, and/or other products i should try)

I must say now, that i aint trying to gain weight, however i accept i will (gained 1 stone in a month, which is worrying) im just looking for lean muscle to add defintion to my body (i dont want to be looking fat, cause i have TOO MUCH muscle)

Im really sorry for this VERY LONG thread, im just trying to add everything im hoping to learn into one big question, so im not opening a million threads and annoying everyone.

thanks very much for your help, and once again great forum and site

I must also add i dont have the greatest of Diets, hence why im taking this protein to try and get my daily amount, and help me get to where i want to be

Hi bud, six spoonfulls will probably give you 60g of protein so try putting three into about 3/4 pint of water (not as nice but digests better). DRINK PLENTY OF WATER through out the day. Also your body isn't used to these drinks so try adding one shake at a time. As for adding lean tissue read on diet and supplements in your goal on this site!!!!

You can use milk with your whey. The only difference is that it will slow the digestion. This can be beneficial as whey is generally digested relatively quickly.

Guy like Gareth swear by full fat milk in their morning shakes whilst bulking. It is a very easy way to bump up the calories.

I always use milk in my Whey protein shakes if Im having one b4 bed to keep the digestion slower, to release more protein during the night.
For 5% off your order use code MP19206 When ordering

Thanks for the replies, thats really good news as i actually quite like it when its mixed with Milk (as i say the water tends to really make me ill quite ill), so what about Glutamine (sp?) i bought this thinking i would have this before my work-out and whey after.. i had the impression that the gluatmine helps your muscles so they dont ache as much after, therefor being able to lift more?? maybe the other way round...
