I rate them, i do mountain walking a fair bit and never use heavy ankle supporting boots. I use either a pair of inov-8 gore tex fell running trainers in the winter or classic five fingers in the summer.

Much better for your feet that supporting them and letting the ankle muscles go weak.
You will also find that it will feel softer walking, even though you don't have padding as with padded shoes your feet act as a solid lump and let the shoe do the work. With non padded flexible shoes your feet move around and flex and do the work, which they do much better than padding!

Oh the inov8's site is Inov-8 Products Footwear Range

Highly reccomend them. Amazing shoes if you don't want to go the whole weird five finger angle. I use mine for climbing, mountaineering in water/snow etc, every day use, heavy mud, running on road and off road, cycling, etc.
