So I'm looking to expand my home setup in the very near future to replace my homemade wooden squat/bench rack and flat bench. They're both holding up fine but i think its just time to move on to better things plus the added security of the safety pins on the rack will mean i wont have to get my brother to spot me every time i bench and i wont have to worry about getting folded up like a garden chair if i fail a rep when I'm squatting.

At the moment the Bodymax CF475 power rack looks like the best deal for 285 from powerhouse fitness and i'd get the dip bars with it too which are 30 extra.

As for a Bench the marcy JD2.1 looks ok which is 75 quid from powerhouse fitness too. but there are also benches on ebay for 65 but the weight capacity on those is 400kg where as the marcy is 270kg

From reading around people have said that if you ring up powerhouse then they will often give you a better deal. The only reason to get the bench from powerhouse would be if they would be me a better deal for buying the bench and rack from them. Otherwise the eBay bench is the much better choice.

Does anyone have any advice for buying from them and or how to get a good deal? or anywhere else that does racks and benches pretty cheap?

As for the gymnastics rings strengthshop do some but they're 35 quid and there are rings on ebay for about 22. anyone know of anywhere that does good rings?

i've got my eye on teh strength shop power cage. got all the bells and whistles you will ever need and its at a great price! plus its ace for short people as the safety bars can go to about 1/2 a foot off the ground.

I was thinking the same thing. Looks like it would easily survive a decade.

I got one of those, very dusty and you get bits o f wood in your eyes for the first few uses.

Oh and I broke it, the wood split towards the ends and both of the weight pins fell out. Serves me right for using it about three times without tyres.

I got the following from Powerhouse fitness:

    Bodycraft F430 Power Rack
    Bodymax CF430 Bench
    145KG rubber tri-grips & 7' Oly bar

    £800 after some haggling.

Couldn't be happier, first proper purchase and look forward to upgrading the bar & bench amongst other things in good time once I have more spare cash to spend. As for Gym rings, I'm also looking for some along with some heavy chains. I'm no good at bartering on the phone but if you just ask them what's the best deal they can do you which includes xyz items they'll instantly give it lower than their website, then try get a bit more money after that which they should do.

I was originally looking at the Premium Strength Package but decided to upgrade the weights and cage for about £100 extra.
