wee update, i rang said company and got the price down to £620 delivered...im holding off untill i know its a decent buy and not crap?
anyone?
decided to kit myself out with a home setup, preferably one that i can use for big compound stuff and what not, currently spending £25 a month at the gym which isnt too bad but i dont drive so have to walk in the rain etc etc.
moving to a bigger house in january so the wifes let me have one of the spare rooms as a full on gym.
ive came up with this lot to get me going
they have a package deal which is around a tenner more, but has only 145kg weight, a £50 more bench and the lat pull down attatchment which i dont really want, id rather scrap that have a cheaper bench and add dip bars and the extra 40kg in plates....thoughts?
i already have a std barbell and dumbell kit(argos job from years ago but worth keeping), kettlebells, chains and some other stuff so i reckon this should be all i need?
cheers in advance
Davy

It looks alright to me. Just checking; is the spare room on the ground floor? Might seem a trivial question; but just making sure you factored it in lol!
How are you going to go about protecting the floor as well from deadlifts? I would advise getting some pieces of gym flooring to place under the floor contact points of the power rack and some to place under the weights when you deadlift. Or just buy a load to cover a large portion of the floor.
How much weight is the bench rated for as well?

Goals for 2011/2012:
ATG squat: 200kg 10+ reps Deadlift: 200kg 10+ reps Log press: 100kg 10+ reps -> Win Britains' strongest junior.
some barn flooring or industrial rubber mats go pretty cheap. other than that, looks good. i have my eye on either that cage or the one from strengthshop when i get my house. although depending on the ceiling height, may have to opt for a rack instead of a cage.
a ghr bench wouldnt go amiss

spare room thats been converted from a garage - so its a solid concrete floor PERFECT
plan to deck it all out in rubber flooring, got a quote from a local company for tile at £160 for the 15m2 i need
bench is 200kg apparently, im 80kg scope for 120kg bench will be ok for a while i reckon?
only problem i see is height for chins, the racks about half a foot shorter than the room height.
if it becomes a pain ill just wall mount one.
i would also get a few bumper plates for if you ever do any oly lifts. i rarely lower weights down anymore to the floor unless its rows or deadlifts. all other lifts, just get dumped as my gym has bumpers. also for safety purposes if you have to bail out.

experimenting with cleans atm, bumpers will have to be had eventually but not right this second
would be handy if i had to bail on ohp or if anything failed mind you....
might hire my joiner mate to build an oly platform in time also!!
minds running away with options here lol
its quite fun dumping the bar from overhead with bumpers. you could just get a pair of 20kg bumpers and a homemade lifting platform..
