So I'm new to the whole home gym stuff.
I picked up 127kg standard 1" weight plates from gumtree for 100 quid, was that a good deal?

Well anyway I'm looking for a decent bench but I really have no idea where to start looking.
Tbh looking on gumtree and ebay, all the benches seem to be the one with a rack attached which is something I don't want.

I'm looking for a bench that will fit in a power rack and will go incline/flat/decline.
At the moment the only bench I've liked is the bodymax bench but its pretty expensive on the powerfitness and goes for about 120.

Ideally I want to spend no more than £80, so could anyone give me some useful websites or specific names of decent benches around my budget?

Update : Whats everyones opinion/feedback on this? http://www.amazon.co.uk/York-Fitness...8538646&sr=1-1

It doesn't say if the bench will go vertically upright for shoulder press hmmm, any help?

    Thanks everyone!

I've got this bench from powerhouse fitness if you can afford £10 more.
At the minute if you enter the code 'winter10' you get an extra 10% off making it £91. It goes incline, decline, vertical and has been pretty sturdy.
It's also worth looking at quidco or giving them a call direct because they can sometimes knock extra off as well.

Couldn't see the bench you linked to for some reason so can't comment unfortunately.

    Thanks for your reply!
Hmmm yes I am leading towards that bench I've heard so much about it!

As long as it can go vertical for shoulder presses then thats great, I might have to give them a call.

This is the bench i was talking about earlier York Fitness Bench: Amazon.co.uk: Sports & Leisure

No worries, took a photo of mine in the most upright position, it's not quite fully vertical but a couple of degrees off. (apologies for the rubbish camera phone pic) Still good enough for shoulder press though imo.

That bench you linked to looks alright to be honest. I was told when I purchased, the max limit was 400lb for the bodymax one so pretty similar to the york one.

    Wow looks great!
Any bad points regarding the bench?

I'm just about to buy a new bench myself, narrowed it down to the Powertec utility bench or the IronMaster Superbench because I want a solid bench that has all the attachments I could want and I don't want to have to upgrade again after this.

Only bad points I can think of is that it isn't quite instant moving it from one position to the other. There's sort of a screw you turn and then pull out to change position and then screw back in. Not a deal breaker in any way but thought I'd mention it.

Cheers, the flooring is foam I got from here but it's not the best, it'll do the trick for now though. I should have really gotten a couple of these instead. Once I get paid I think I'm going to get some, it doesn't work out much more expensive and they'll do a much better job of protecting everything with them being rubber.
