    Training around shift work?

Well for me training comes first, then eating, then my mrs and then work and yes I am a bobby as "43andstartinover" put it. I work shifts but have been doing my job long enough to work out a good career path to accomodate my BB needs.

Basically though, no matter what time I start even if I just done a 15 hour night shift or I got a 4am parade, I set the alarm 1 1/2 hours ealier than I need to get up and do 1 hour cardio on empty stomache.

I then have a liquid breakfast with some oats and whey and rush off to gym and pound the weight for an hour, quick shower then into work

I cook my food in advance on a day off and in bulk, roast loadsa chicken breast at once, fill a rice cooker with brown rice and buy frozen veg... that way I just load my tupperwares and off I go, I always ensure I have a extra meal with me incase I arrest someone and it prolongs my day...(which is always the way in london)

I also take 2 MRP drinks with me incase I cant get at my food I can down a drink in 3 mins! and dont miss the next meal window.

On top of that, I work for a plain clothed robbery unit and thus am not in the public eye so generally eat b4 I leave the parade room when others are having their fag and coffee... I then eat in the car and again on my break and then a final meal when back at the nick doing paperwork (and theres loads of that these days!)

And when I train for a competetion , I cut back my hours at work, ditch the overtime and this allows for me to hit the CV at night before bed for another hour... but if I think in advance that wont be praticle, I do the second CV after my weight session.

The key is to be organised and prepared and commited! The hardest thing is keeping the little lady happy as Im flyin round all day - but thats women!

didn't realise you were a copper dude.

respect! I was thinking bout doing that when I finish uni but I don't think I could hack the day to day abuse, plus most of my mates are crims lol

and shouldn't your eating come before your training??

When you eat the foods your body is made for (Paleo foods) in a framework that your body is made for (feast-fast, such as IF), it all works beautifully.

Yes very interesting to read. It really does show how dedicated you have to be to be at the top of the sport without being a pro.

His eating does come before the training (weights anyway) he said he does cardio on an empty stomach, which is the best way to burn fat...

Good read and you certainly sound dedicated, a little too keen for me though as all the bobbies I know are lazy gits !

Yeah I appreciate all old bill are wasters... no disrespect but there should be a fitness test annually atleast as the public demand bobbies on the beat, the recruitment test levels have gotten easier and made easier to accomodate failures.... so now the levels of both mind and body in the bill is depressing...

    Still rock on T Blair...
I never wanted to do the job as a kid as I was always in trouble but had a mid twenties crisis and look at what happened to me?

Still, I work on a good plain clothed unit and try to base my ethics on the stike team on the hit tv programme "the shield"

Definately agree on the annual fit test. It amazes me that during the probationery period a standard of fitness needs to be maintained. Then after that there are in effect no standards at all.

Titan highlights a very good way to keep your diet strict, cos you'll always have the right food on you to eat, so no excuse to eat crap! Cooking everything in bulk one day a week may sound like a chore, but once you've done it a few times, its no problem. Just make sure you stock up on some good tupperware
