Hi sorry if you've answered this in the thread already. I just noticed you play rugby in hull. I was just wondering what team it is you play for as I'm going into my second year of uni in Hull.

I've been off for more than a year now with a knee problem and am looking into getting back into rugby. Is there a team in your club that could cater to that kind of level? I played for about 6-7 years before the injury but my fitness was very sub-par and I feel the coaching I received wasn't amazing as it was only junior level. I played prop for my entire time playing but I've lost a bit of weight and don't feel I'm really heavy enough (around 92kg, but I'm looking to lose more fat and gain a bit of muscle back) to be a prop anymore so I'm going to have to learn an entirely different position.

I'm trying to decide between playing for uni or playing for a local club. What do you reckon?

Nice stats btw! I'm looking forward to getting near those kind of numbers.

I was playing for Duke last season (we went unbeaten in the league), but I got what seems to be a sports hernia in December and had to play the back end of the season in pain with it. So I've decided not to play again this year and concentrate on lifting. It just hurts too much when I sprint to keep putting myself through it, and it seems the NHS are pretty useless at identifying the injury properly and helping people with it.

As far as picking a team to play I guess you need to decide how good you think you are, obviously the better the team you join the better you have to be to get a game. A lot of the teams could probably do with more players.

Here's a link to the leagues website:

Hull & District Open Age Rugby League

Have a look at league and see if a team stands out for you that you think you could join.

Let me know if you need any more advice, not sure I've been much help really.

Ahhh, I didn't realise you played league haha. No worries, I'll have to think on it I suppose.

I see you're training at home. Do you know of any good gyms around? I've used the uni gym but it recently got really cramped in the weights room so I'd really like to find somewhere with some more barbel and squat stations etc?

I'm not a fan of gyms in Hull really, that's why I decided to put my own together. The only one I would recommend is:

    Vulcan Training Centre

They only have one rack and one bench but it's a new gym and doesn't get very busy. Add them on facebook if you use it and you can ask him what times it's best to go as he's usually online most of the day.

Cheers for that. It looks like a pretty cool gym. I like the look of that strongman equipment, I've always wanted to use a bit. £15 a month is very reasonable too. I'll be sure to check it out. Thanks for the info!

No problem. Just tell him Paul told you about it, I hold a couple of the gym records in the under 77kgs if he's not sure which Paul.
