    Sup people!

Been on the forums for a fair while now but have yet to make a journal. As its the start of a new year I though now would be a good time to start one up and see how things go.

I've recently started 5x5, built my way up to weights that im starting to find heavy, but not quite there yet.

Im currently weighing just over 60kg at around 6foot. Aims are to just get as strong as possible, if I get bigger then great but its not my main concern. Always been good at long distance running and endurance rather than sprinting and explosiveness, so should be good to see how long it takes to get stronger.

    Aims:
    1.5BW squat
    2x bodyweight deadlift
1xbodyweight bench- bench is by far the weakest lift so this is what I want to reach more than anything.
No real time limits, as long as I keep adding 2.5kg each session im happy.

    Todays sesh:

Started with bench cause someone was on the rack.
    15x bar
    10x20
    5x 35
    5x 35
    5x 35
    5x 35
    5x 35

    Squat:
    10x bar
    5x 30
    3x 40
    5x50
    5x50
    5x50
    5x50
    5x50

    Paused squats
    5x40
    5x40
    5x40

    Close grip bench
    5x30
    5x30
    5x30

Hang Cleans - never done these so practicing technique...
    5xbar
    5xbar
    5xbar

    Upright rows
    5x30
    5x30
    5x30
    5x30
    5x30

First session back after my IBS attack, lost some strength but not as much as expected so quite pleased.

Didnt really feel upto the gym today as I woke up late and was out of schedual, but went anyway ofcourse.

    Squat
    bar x lots
    30x8
    40x5
    52.5x5
    52.5x5
    52.5x5
    52.5x5
    52.5x5

Been waiting for so long wthere wasnt much time to do military press, so skipped and went to deads.

    Deads
    bar x lots
    50x5
    60x3
    92.5x1
    90x2

God knows what happened here, my illness hasnt shown untill here, where ive lost a good 5 reps on 92.5, next sesh will more than make up for this, seriously dissapointed. My transition to paelo eating no doubt has some effect as well.

    Negative pullups
    x8
    x6
    x5

Pretty awfull session, everything felt harder than it should of and we were waiting for ages to start because our gym sucks ass.

    Squats
    bar x lots
    30x8
    40x5
    55x5x5

    Bench
    bar x lots
    25x8
    30x5
    37.5x5x5

    BOR (wide grip to chest)
    bar x lots
    30x5x3

Paused squats (3 second pause, ATG)
    40x5
    50x5x3

Nice session, squats were easy, paused were quite fast. Bench was hard, technique definately needs improving as some reps were fairly easy, other were nearly failure . Managed to get all the sets though so im happy.

Bodyweight was just under 60kg upon waking.

    Squats
    bar x lots
    30x8
    40x5
    57.5x5x5
    80x1 (massive pb)
Felt strong so went for 80 out of the blue, first attempt failed because of poor form but 2nd attempt went up easy, could of had another 2 if I pushed hard.

    OH Press
    bar x lots
    25x 5
    30x5x5

    Deadlift
    50x8
    90x5
    100x1(massive pb again)
Went for this for the same reason as squat, quite hard.

    Negative pullups
    x8
    x5
x2 - absolutely spent by now.

Been on 5x5 for about 3 weeks consistently and am pleased with the progress, hopefully more to come.

Indeed, how ever I wouldn't call myself extremely skinny compared to your average kid my age, but definately not very big lol. My aim is to be light so im actually very happy at this weight.

I'd make sure you get enough food in though, or youll end up doing all that work for no reward

If you mean by size gains then im not too fussed, currently eating when im hungry until im full, 150g protein and the rest fats. Carbs come from veg and fruit, reason for this is get IBS now and then and have seen a lot of recommendations from people here on the high fat diet, strength is increasing nicely.

Once I get strong enough I might swap but for now im loving 5x5 and will be sticking with it for quite a while I think.

Hardest session of my life, was at kinetika gym today so no squat rack which was abit of a confidence issue, bar was also hitting against a couple spots at the top of my back. Managed to get through all my sets.

Bench I knew would be hard, managed to JUST get all the sets with my spot helping my very slightly on the last set. I was going light headed by the last few.

Canceled my membership with the kinetika gym, so not long before I can have a rack with every session which is great.
