What helps me with heels coming up is to turn my feet out slightly, means I can get lower into the squat too. I know what you mean about feeling like you have more in the tank for cardio after, I find it pretty frusrtating (the cardio ban, that is). It's getting better as the weights come up i.e. I am not as keen to do the cardio these days. Have fun at the Xmas party! Remember it's ok not to log everything

Yeah, maybe I should be missing some blank carbs out of this thread, its not pretty...

    Fri 16th Dec

    Cals 4993
    Carbs 388
    Fat 179
    Protein 262

All these are rough estimates with what I logged. Potentially lost count of beers, and it was a buffet meal so hard to count there too. Basically, its very bad.

Squat 5x5 @ 36.5kg (starting to get some effort in now)
OH Press 5x5 @ 29.5kg (enjoying building up this weight as used to always neglect shoulders)
Deadlift 1 x 5 @ 56kg (feels a strain on lower back on lowering the weight but other than that, easy)
EZ curls 5x5 @ ?? (dont know why, just felt like adding some curls - probably something to do with vanity and going out drinking - I know its outside of the 5x5 rules but may add this permanent to workout A - thoughts ?)

Sat 17th Dec - Rest Day

    Cals 2836
    Carbs 303
    Fat 118
    Protein 152

Poor day on the supplement as went out all day having had none, catch up tomorrow. On a plus note, no hangover !!!! Can't wait to get in the gym Monday, downside is I'm at another Chrimbo do in the evening. Good job I'm not cutting.

to be honest anything after the core 3 exercises I think is great, Im sure the 5x5 does say you can include additional work but it should be after as to not fatigue your routine, I started off on just the 3 each time but as im progressing I am finding that the 3 isnt enough so I try and do tricep / bicep work and maybe some kettlebell exercises, I like to leave the gym completely shattered and weak then ive got 48 hours to recover before the next session, keep it up!
    Targets - Set of pullups / 70kg BP / 100kg Squat / 100kg deadlift

Cheers Chieboy, just been logging my workouts for the next week and will be adding a bicep 5x5 on workout A and a tricep one on workout B. Will put it all on the log and see how it goes. Also signed up to your log, seems we're at a similar stage.

    Weigh In

    05/12/11 90.7kg with 22.5 BF
    19/12/11 92.4kg with 22.2 BF

So two weeks in and an increase in weight and bodyfat remaining about the same. Considering all the eating (and Christmas drinking) and the lack of cardio, I'm happy with that. Interesting to see what happens in another two weeks.
